Getting Started
How Check-ins Work
Walk to a place, get points automatically
Auto Check-in
When you walk into a place's zone, Ghoom detects it and awards points automatically
You hear a sound + get a notification when points are earned
Works best when the app is open on screen (foreground)
When app is in background (minimized)
You pressed Home or switched to another app โ Ghoom is still in memory
Auto check-ins still work if you granted "Allow all the time" location
Some phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo) may kill the app after a few minutes to save battery
Fix: disable battery optimization for Ghoom (see Permissions article)
When app is closed (swiped away)
You swiped Ghoom from recent apps โ the app process is killed
Auto check-ins will NOT work in this state by default
Enable "Persistent tracking" in Settings to fix this
Persistent tracking keeps a small notification running โ this tells Android to never kill Ghoom
With persistent tracking ON: auto check-ins work even after swiping the app away
Persistent Tracking (Settings toggle)
Found in Profile โ Settings โ Background Tracking
Shows a small low-priority notification: "Tracking visits nearby..."
This notification prevents Android from stopping Ghoom in background
Recommended for frequent travelers who want every check-in captured
OFF by default โ turn it on only if you want 100% reliability
Manual Check-in
Tap the "Check in" button on the map anytime
You must be within the place's zone (shown as circle on map)
Revisits
Already visited? You can earn again after a cooldown period
The place detail shows the exact date & time when revisit becomes available
