🔑Permissions

This is the most important permission for Ghoom to work

Ghoom needs to know when you physically arrive at a place to award points

"While using the app" only works when you have the app open on screen

"Allow all the time" lets Ghoom detect arrivals even when your phone is in your pocket

Without this, background auto check-ins will NOT work

When prompted, first select "While using the app"

Ghoom will ask again to upgrade — select "Allow all the time"

If you missed it: Settings → Apps → Ghoom → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time

On Samsung/Xiaomi: also disable battery optimization for Ghoom (Settings → Battery → Ghoom → Unrestricted)

Ghoom sends a notification when you earn points from a check-in

If denied, you won't know when auto check-ins happen in background

Enable: Settings → Apps → Ghoom → Notifications → Allow

Only used for setting your profile photo

Ghoom works perfectly fine without camera access

Android may kill background apps to save battery

If auto check-ins stop working, Ghoom is being killed by the OS

Fix: Settings → Battery → Ghoom → set to "Unrestricted" or "No restrictions"

Samsung: also check Settings → Device care → Battery → Background usage limits → remove Ghoom from "Sleeping apps"

Xiaomi: Settings → Apps → Ghoom → Battery saver → No restrictions; also enable "Autostart"

In Settings you can enable "Persistent tracking"

This shows a small ongoing notification but guarantees check-ins never stop

Recommended if you travel a lot and want 100% reliable background detection
